Objective:

 To obtain a career in journalism where I can utilize the skills that I am acquiring at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. I want to use my bilingual skills in the Hispanic/Latino broadcast market.

Experience:

Crocs Retail; Team Lead                                               August 2012-Present

Phoenix Zoo; Sales Associate                                     August 2011-Present

Able to stock merchandise, take inventory, work at a register, handle money, and interact with guests in order to provide an enjoyable environment for customers and their children.

Hispanic Mother-Daughter Program                       August 2006-Present

The Hispanic Mother-Daughter Program is a program sponsored by Arizona State University, which provides first-generation college students with the necessary resources to be successful in college. In the college component, we volunteer at special events around ASU and hold a Mock High School Day once a year where we hold workshops for eighth grade girls in order to prepare them for high school.

SPARKS                                                                                   August 2012-Present

SPARKS is an ASU organization that helps kids at almost every school level get interested in going to college. We hold panels every month at different locations where students have the opportunity to ask an actual college student what they want to know.

Majoring in Journalism and Mass Communication at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in English Literature, Barrett, the Honors College student.

Course Work:

  • JMC 201- News writing and reporting at an introductory level. Wrote mock stories for the web and for print
  • JMC 305– Learning to write for online media by means of maintaining a WordPress blog and a Twittter account. Learned how to use Final Cut Pro, Soundtrack Pro and Adobe Photoshop.

Skills:

Fluent in English and Spanish (able to read, write and communicate in both languages), Microsoft Office, basic use of Photoshop, InDesign, Soundtrack Pro and Final Cut Pro, WordPress (blogging), Social Media Skills (Twitter, Facebook).
